At the Kitovras Book Festival, Leonid Andronov to Deliver Lecture 'Books vs. TikTok: Who Will Win?

Screenwriter, director, producer, playwright, musician, copywriter, magazine publisher, production designer, sound engineer, actor, editor, sales manager, summer camp counselor, and even a truck driver — this is just a partial list of professions and roles mastered by Leonid Andronov, a native of Yekaterinburg and now a Los Angeles resident.

He wrote his first book at 14, followed by science fiction stories and publications in literary magazines. In 2005, Leonid attended playwriting workshops led by Nikolai Kolyada, and by 2007, his play Karma of Success won first prize at the "Eurasia-2007" International Playwright Contest and was staged in theaters in Russia and Ukraine.

In 2012, after the premiere of his debut feature film 29th Kilometer, Leonid moved to Los Angeles, where he graduated from the New York Film Academy at Universal Studios and continued writing, directing, and producing.

Readers know him best as the author of the fantasy duology Amulet: The Chamber of Stolen Hearts and the metahistorical novel The Stone.

In 2024, he released a collection of stories and plays, Octagon, and in March 2025, his screenwriting guide First Draft Survival Guide: Practical Steps From A Working Screenwriter became a #1 bestseller on Amazon U.S. in multiple screenwriting categories.

At the Kitovras Festival, Leonid will explore whether books are truly losing the battle against TikTok—or if they’re holding their ground. Hear his professional take on August 17 at 5:45 PM in Lecture Hall #3 ("Soloukhin").
